Metropia to open The Warsaw International Film Festival
On October 9, Atmo’s animated film Metropia will open the 25th International Film Festival in Warsaw - one of 13 so-called A-film festivals.
The festival inauguration and the screening of Metropia will take place in the legendary ”Palace of Culture and Science”, erected in 1955 to the honor of Josef Stalin. The palace seats an audience of 2400.
”This feels like the perfect place to screen Metropia. The setting, in the heart of Europe’s dark history, is totally awesome. I feel like seven years old again, just the way I used to feel the night before Christmas Eve”, says Tarik Saleh, the Metropia director.
Festival Director Stefan Laudyn on Metropia:
”From the moment I saw fragments of Metropia, I realised it’s a very special film. Once I got to see the whole movie we instantley decided that Metropia would be our opening film. No other options were considered.”
Metropia is included in this year’s main competition.
