She Monkeys wins big at Tribeca
Lisa Aschan’s She Monkeys took top honors at the 10th annual Tribeca Film Festival by winning the best narrative feature award. The film is produced by Atmo and follows the competitive relation between two teenage girls on a young women’s equestrian acrobatics team.
The category’s jury:
”Haunting, resonant, but never posed. Conventional shots become dangerous. With balanced storytelling that moves between danger and innocence, this film speaks of sex, adolescence, power, and ambition. It is original and authentic.”
She Monkeys is directed by Lisa Aschan and produced by Atmo’s Helene Lindholm with Kristina Åberg as executive producer.
More than 5,000 films were submitted to the festival, which was founded in 2001 by, among others, Robert De Niro.
